About REINSW

The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales (REINSW) is the peak industry body representing real estate professionals across NSW. It plays a key role in advocacy, professional standards, training, and supporting agents, property managers and businesses within the real estate sector.

REINSW’s Complaint Against realestate.com.au (REA Group)

REINSW has raised serious concerns about REA Group, the operator of realestate.com.au, in relation to its pricing practices and market dominance.

According to REINSW, many agents have faced significant annual increases in advertising and listing fees, well above inflation. Because realestate.com.au holds a dominant position in the online property advertising market, agencies often have no real alternative, placing pressure on their profitability and increasing costs for vendors.

As a result, REINSW has lodged a formal complaint to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), calling for an investigation into REA Group’s pricing model, competitive behaviour, and the impact on agents, vendors and consumers.
